Asu Ekiye, widely recognized as the "Prince of the Niger Delta," was born in Sapele Delta state in the late 60s. He shares his maternal and paternal lineage to Aleibiri in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Nigeria and Tuomo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Ekiye completed his secondary education at the prestigious Hussey College in Warri before advancing to the University of Science and Technology in Port Harcourt, where he earned a B.Sc. in Accountancy. Furthering his academic pursuits, he obtained a second degree in Public Administration and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the same field.
Initially, Asu Ekiye embarked on a professional path in accountancy, demonstrating his expertise as a Finance Executive and auditor within a prominent firm of chartered accountants. However, driven by a profound calling to music ministry, Ekiye made a significant career transition that allowed him to explore and unleash his musical talents fully.
Ekiye's dedication to gospel music culminated in the release of his groundbreaking album "Back to Base" in December 2001, which catapulted him to fame. His discography includes five notable musical projects:

5. Ebikamo (2024)
Ekiye's work has earned him numerous accolades, including being a two-time recipient of the Channel O Best African Gospel Artiste award. His music is celebrated for its distinctive sound that blends traditional Niger Delta rhythms with contemporary gospel, reaching audiences worldwide.
Beyond his musical career, Ekiye has made significant contributions to the cultural and entertainment sectors. He served as the Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Entertainment and Culture, where he leveraged his expertise to promote and nurture artistic expressions in the region. His leadership extends to his role as the International President of the Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria (FOGMMON). Under his guidance, FOGMMON has expanded to over 30 states in Nigeria and several international locations, including the USA, Europe, South Africa, and Ghana.
